"An artist [may have] individual experiences to express and yet lack the ability to express [them]. Before his/her/their experiences can become art he/she/they must achieve a synthesis between the world to he/she/they responds, the feeling through which he/she/they responds, and the materials in which his/her/their response is embodied. he/she/they must bring into the complex realm of creative activity and sensitiveness to all elements present; a power of reducing them to order and harmony, or what we call 'form'(Walter Abell 1936)."
